Spatial and geographic datasets are becoming increasingly common with new satellites and more widespread digital datasets. In this course, students learn how to quantitatively analyze, model, and predict spatial and spatiotemporal phenomena.

Gateway Computing: Python

This course introduces fundamental programming concepts and techniques, and is intended for all who plan to develop computational artifacts or intelligently deploy computational tools in their studies and careers.

 

Case studies in climate change — a field course
(EN.570.320, 4 credits)
We will explore evidence for climate change in Earth’s history and contrast those changes against the magnitude and impacts of contemporary climate change. This interdisciplinary, hands-on field course takes place in Death Valley and Owens Valley in Eastern California.
